The 2012 Union County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner & Showcase will be an event not to be missed. We have listened to your suggestions and we are making some exciting changes, all designed to make this event one of Union County’s most enjoyable social gatherings of the year.
Land of the Rising Sun
The theme of this year’s event is “Land of the Rising Sun” to honor Union County’s special relationship with the people of Japan. Union County and the Japanese people have long maintained a unique bond, first forged in 1977 upon the announcement by Honda Motor Company that a new manufacturing facility would be constructed near Marysville. Since the plant opened in 1979, our relationship with Honda and the Japanese people has grown immensely and continues to strengthen over time.
Nearly a year ago on March 11, 2011, the nation of Japan was devastated by a trio of horrific disasters that killed thousands and forever altered the landscape of the nation. By choosing the theme of “Land of the Rising Sun,” we hope to honor those who lost their lives during the disasters by celebrating Japan’s rich heritage and legacy of friendship.
Union County Business Showcase
New this year is the Union County Business Showcase, which will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. A hybrid of a traditional business expo and a professional networking event, the Union County Business Showcase offers a unique opportunity for businesses and attendees to reinforce current business relationships and spark new partnerships. Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and musical entertainment will also be on-site for your enjoyment.

Dinner & Entertainment
Never before have we had so much entertainment! We have exciting surprises in store with a great mix of musical performances, artistry and hands-on activities. With a delicious buffet dinner, entertainment, colorful decorations, cocktails and networking, you are sure to have fun!

Special Guests & Program
We are proud to announce that Mr. Kuninori Matsuda, Consul General of Japan in Detroit, will be our keynote speaker. Mr. Matsuda will share his perspective on our unique relationship with Japan and will receive a very special gift from the students at Marysville’s Creekview Intermediate School.
Mr. Matsuda joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), following his graduation from Tokyo University in 1982. His assignments include Director of Overseas Public Relations, Director of Russian Affairs and Minister at the Embassy of Japan in Israel. Mr. Matsuda assumed his current position as Consul General in Detroit in August 2010.
Eric Phillips, CEO and Executive Director of the Union County Chamber of Commerce, will review the past year’s economic development accomplishments and share a brief outlook for 2012.
Awards
There are many things that make our community a great place to live, work and play. Among those are our strong business leaders and businesses that go “above and beyond” in serving our community. We will recognize Union County’s best and brightest during our annual awards program. Join us as we celebrate the Union County Business Leader of the Year, Small Business of the Year, and Large Business of the Year.
Live & Silent Auction
Our Annual Dinner & Business Showcase would not be complete without our Live & Silent Auctions. Our local business partners are graciously providing exciting products and services and we cannot wait to give you an opportunity to purchase these amazing items. We have also redesigned the bidding process and auction program – be sure to come ready to bid!
Location & Parking
The 2012 Union County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner & Showcase will be held at the Ohio National Guard Armory – Marysville, located at 200 Coleman’s Crossing Blvd. in Marysville.
- Parking is available at the YMCA and at the Marysville Armory.
Signs and greeters will be on-site to assist.

- Dinner & Program: 6:15 PM
- Event Conclusion: 9:00 PM
